Alan Broome AM, CHAIRMAN

Alan is a professional director and business advisor with over 40 years experience in the metals mining and energy sectors.
He has extensive knowledge of the mining industry accumulated through involvement with mining technology companies, Government agencies and major international mining companies in promoting Australian mining and developing global trade.
Alan has been recognised by the Commonwealth with an Order Of Australia for services to the Mining Technology Sector and by the Australian Institute of Export as an “Export Hero”. The Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy has also awarded Alan with a President’s Award for services to the Mining Sector; and the inaugural Life Member Award for contribution to Austmine and the METS sector.
Alan chairs numerous METS and other companies, including Chairman – Emeritus, Austmine Limited.
Doug Ritchie, NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
LLB; FAusIMM; FAICD
Doug has four decades experience working in the mining industry, including as a member of Rio Tinto’s Executive Committee, and the Group Executive responsible for China, Doug’s expertise across the industry is extensive.
Doug is a Non Executive Director of ASX listed Neometals Limited. He has previously been a Director of Jinchuan Group International Resources (HKSE), Coal & Allied Limited (ASX 50), Rossing Uranium Limited, Arrium Limited and Chairman of Riversdale Mining Limited. He was also formerly Chairman of the Coal Industry Advisory Board to the International Energy Agency, a Director of the World Coal Association and a Director of the Queensland Resources Council. Between 2013 and April 2016, Doug was Chairman of UniQuest, the main commercialisation vehicle of the University of Queensland.
Doug is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
John McGagh, NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

John is a thought-leader with over 35 years of broad experience in the industry. Recently he led Rio Tinto’s Innovation portfolio, underpinning the Mine of the FutureTM program which received industry accolades. Prior to that John led Rio Tinto’s global procurement business.
John is a skilled motivator and communicator. He has a strong international perspective having lived and worked in Australia, USA and Europe whilst being responsible for leading the establishment of facilities and transacting substantial business in Europe, Southern Africa, China, India, North and South America.
John is currently Vice President of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. He has previously served on the CSIRO Minerals Down Under Sector Advisory Council. He has also been Chair of the Australian Research Training system on behalf of ACOLA, the Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Ian Bauert, NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
BA Hons, MA, PMD (Harvard Business School).
With considerable experience in China, Ian has worked in the mining industry for more than 35 years.
A Mandarin speaker, he established the first Rio Tinto office in China in 1983 and spent three years living in Beijing. He returned to China in 2009 to refocus the Group’s strategy in its largest market, working as Managing Director – China until his retirement from the company in 2014.
Throughout Ian’s career in mining he has worked across several product groups and functions with roles including: Managing Director Sales and Marketing and Managing Director New Business Development for Rio Tinto ‘s Iron Ore business, Marketing Director for Hamersley Iron, Managing Director and later Chairman of Dampier Salt, Chairman of HIsmelt and Chairman of North Limited.
Ian continues to provide valuable advice to businesses, through his private consulting company, Abalone Resources.
David Meldrum, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
BE (Mining); MAusIMM
David has over 30 years’ experience working in the mining and mining services sector. His entrepreneurial mindset is backed up by considerable technical and managerial leadership experience.
Prior to taking the helm at Interlate, David was Global Head of Mining Advisory services at Wipro Limited; a role that gave him significant exposure to IIot and Data-driven productivity improvement techniques.
Before Wipro, he was the founding partner and Managing Director of Minarco Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, a leading provider of technical consulting services to the coal industry, which was acquired by Runge Limited, which is now RPMGLOBAL.
David is a founding director of Interlate.
Matthew Magee, DIRECTOR – OPERATIONS
Matthew has a strong operational background and a proven track record in the management of large multidisciplinary teams. He has worked in a wide range of senior leadership roles spanning operational, project, technology development and strategic functions, within commodities including Copper, Gold, Lead, Zinc, Silver, Iron Ore and Coal.
A focus on the human, cultural and organisational attributes of teams and their members, combined with a strong delivery focus allows Matthew to establish teams that leverage sophisticated analytics and expertise, but work as an extension of operating site teams – from anywhere in the world.
Matthew is an acknowledged thought leader that sees unique opportunities and approaches problems unconventionally to provide deep insight into minesite productivity. Levering this experience, he directly managed the development of Excellence Centres within Rio Tinto for four years.
George McCullough, DIRECTOR – STRATEGY
George has a mining technical background with significant operational experience in applying technology to improve productivity. He has international experience across a range of commodities and mining methods.
Leading on from his operational experience, he has had roles in consulting, product development, marketing and executive management for a variety of international mining services and technology companies.
George is an acknowledged leader who relishes in working with high performance teams to create solutions for complex problems. He is an enthusiastic advocate of adopting solutions and technologies from outside industries.
Brian Williams, GENERAL COUNSEL
LL.B. (Hons); LL.M. (Hons)
Brian has extensive international experience in senior management roles, including 10 years as Chief Counsel for Rio Tinto Limited and 10 years as Chief Legal Officer for Quadrem International Holdings Ltd, an incorporated joint venture between 20 global mining companies.
He is an accomplished lawyer, having worked in private practice and in-house internationally (as well as having practical working experience in several foreign jurisdictions) and significant experience within the business-to-business electronic marketplace environment including international Intellectual Property licensing and cross border contracts.
